This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Rupert Murdoch insists Fox News Corp. isn’t biased. While it’s idiotic to think a news organization, including and maybe especially Fox’s, isn’t biased, I would agree with Rupert’s assessment that Fox attempts impartiality through the fact that it is made up of both Democrats and Republicans, whereas other news [...]
Congratulations to Joe Gandelman of The Moderate Voice, who will be appearing on local San Diego television explaining to viewers what blogs are, and their impact on politics. Mr. Gandelman is no stranger to punditry, but it’s always nice to see one of your own (that is, in the blogosphere) pontificating on the merits of [...]
Kerry’s ridiculous statement the other day that he wanted things to return to a time when terrorists weren’t at the forefront of our minds, but were simply nuisances, seems primed to provide much snarkiness at the hands of the web. Exhibit A: John Kerry’s Nuisance Advisory System
Saw this on MonkeyFilter the other day, but forgot to link to it. It’s a list of popular/semi-popular novelists, who they’re voting for, and why. Not surprising, it’s mostly comprised of Kerry supporters, though a couple abstained and four are voting for Bush. Vendela Vida writes that if John Kerry doesn’t win, she’ll move to [...]
Since I did no debate blogging (live or otherwise), I’ll have to point to the people who did. One of my favourite reads these days is Greg Piper’s The Smoking Room. He liveblogged the third debate (I haven’t watched ANY of them) and has some interesting commentary. VodkaPundit drunkblogged all three debates, but seems to [...]
John Howard and his Coalition party won the Australian elections 52.4% to Mark Latham’s Labour’ 47.6%. This is good news for Bush, as he will have a willing ally in the War on Terror, and is a sign that while still a deeply dividing issue, most people still view the war in Iraq as the [...]
Things in Iran are heating up, and I’m not talking about ongoing development of a nuclear reactor. Check out the sidebar, where news of fires, riots, and deadly clashes have resulted from the increasing discontent of the Iranian populace against their evil overlords. Film at eleven. UPDATE: Some Iranians are pissed at Michael Moore for [...]
Bush wins in the articulation department. An informal vote by a freshman writing class at the University of Illinois, based on comparing a speech by George Bush with one by John Kerry, had Bush winning decisively 13-2 in the speech’s overall effectiveness, tone, and persuasiveness based on literary quality of the speech. Kerry, it was [...]
VodkaPundit has a neat analysis of what John Kerry needs to win the election. Frankly, I’m astonished he’s still in the running. I suspect that Virginia may be more in play than the 4 points Bush has at the moment, but this is only after checking the numbers and deciding that many of Virginia’s voters [...]
Louisiana voted overwhelmingly to ban gay marriage. Could 80% of the state’s voters be homophobic or intolerant of gays? It’s possible, but not probable. A more likely reason is that traditional marriage retains the values and beliefs shared by a majority of the populace.
