The Beat Goes On, Dum Dum Dum Dum Da Da

Given the amount of time I’ve been able to spend on this blog the last week, I’m surprised you all haven’t packed your bags and headed to warmer climes. That atmosphere around here is downright frigid. I wouldn’t blame you. The fact is, I don’t spend nearly the amount of time I’d like to or should here, but when it comes to being able to entertain someone versus getting two squares a day, I opt for the Gordian Knot solution, whereby I cut through everything with a giant sword of Damacles and leave you all to pick up the gleanings. Which around here, ain’t sayin’ much.
So I’ve been pursuing financial interests more aggressively lately, which isn’t to say I’ve actively sought out the ones that have come my way–in fact, everything I’ve pursued has fallen short, but I’ve been blessed with a series of odd jobs that will pay a bit of rent, and all coming from an unexpected source. It’s film related, which is nice, and I can add to my portfolio, also nice, and in the meantime, I’m thinking down the road to the writing that must take place in the next few weeks. To elucidate, I’ve got a potential film writing deal in the works, which in this town, means about as much as assuming Paris Hilton’s IQ to be above 45. The credence I lend to the rumours I start regarding any involvement on my part in the film industry is laughable and cause for great amusement among my peers. Nevertheless, I persevere, with hope.
That said, I’m heading out of town for ten days, which has accelerated everything on my timeline to the point where I’m seeing plaid. Ludicrous speed, for those semi in the know. Spaceballs, to you totally clueless mopes out there who still read my blog vainly hoping to find something that makes sense outside the context of Hollywood. I live and breathe it, baby, so shall you.
I’ve noticed I’ve gotten less stringent with my punctuation, rather hoping the quick and lively banter will make lapses more palatable. That and the fact that I disincline to use commas occasionally has saved me 3.8 seconds every blog post. That’s 11.4 over the course of the week, at least with my most recent pathetic showing. Three posts per week. Really. And without much merit either.
And the course doesn’t appear to be changing either.
Screening for 13 Months is supposed to happen tonight at my place. But I’m dealing with a myriad of unexplainable computer failures, and this has me concerned. With two hours before showtime, I’m guessing this will either a) not happen or b) happen, but totally disappoint with quality of media. There’s always c) I throw my computer off the fourth story onto the street below, but that pretty much negates any possibility of d) this film going somewhere. And no, 4 stories down is not “somewhere.”
See you tomorrow. A thousand distant breaths are being held in anticipation.
