Big Day For Progeny

It’s over! The big event always happens sooner than you think, ends more quickly than you’d wish, and seems a distant memory so soon afterward. It’s the nature of the relativity of time to compress just after a moment heralded by great anticipation has passed.
Progeny Festival was a huge success this year. The turnout was much higher than previous years, and the level of quality in the films was entirely a notch above anything else that has ever played at the last two festivals.
I’m never quite aware of what goes on around me at these kinds of events. Maybe it’s because I have a vested interest in seeing a positive outcome, not only for myself, but for the audience and the coordinators. So much can go wrong, yet the hardest work must be expended to ensure success. I think half my consciousness during these times is spent willing everything to go smoothly.
Nevertheless, it was a fun time. A full day of “motion pictures” (no *actual* film this year, all mini-DV) made by aspiring filmmakers around the area (one came from as far away as New York). My mom and a couple of out-of-town friends made the trip, which was a boon of happiness for me.
I was surprised to receive the “Best Director” award, as there were a number of films which I thought were equal in effort and accomplishment to my own. Nevertheless, an honour, and one I won’t mind touting on my resume.

  4. Congratulations!!! And just remember – I asked for a screening BEFORE you got all big time with the award.
Is there something going on between you and Abe, besides him having the hots for you? Scary.

  5. Awesome, Jeremiah! But sorry, I don’t find you sexy.

  6. I don’t find myself sexy either. All the ladies agree. I’m not sure where Abe’s getting his info…

  7. I think I get what’s happening here. Poor Greg, he’s just jealous because Abe has bumped him for the role of your likely hetero life partner. You broke his heart and so he’s lashing out in anger. But don’t worry – as long as Abe thinks you’re sexy, that should be enough.
