Shake the Jew’s Hand

Hooray for the Religion of Peace, whose followers demonstrate their eternal love for the Jew.
“Would you, as a Human Being, be willing to shake hands with a Jew?”
Why, of course not! As a Muslim who reads the Koran, I shouldn’t even say the word ‘Jew’, so as not to sully my lips and tongue! O Allah, I said ‘Jew’! Ah, I said it again! Allahu Ackbar!

  1. i’m sorry jeremiah, but this entry smacks of prejudice against muslims. you indict an entire religion based on the comments of a couple of people in a war torn region of the world. a couple of points to consider..
    a) what is the agenda of memri? they claim to be non-partisan, but after a cursory glance over the website, it appears they want to indict muslims as jew haters.
    b) how many people did this interviewer talk to who didn’t deride the jews as the enemy?
    c) how many muslims in western country’s (away from the war zone) would refuse to shake hands with a jew?
    b)

  2. Having just watched several film clips of TV programs for children aired in Israel produced BY Arabs, I would have to say that the majority opinion among Arabs is hatred toward all other religions in general and Jews in particular.
The acid test in my opinion is this.
If there were Jews OR Christians initiating some kind of “holy war” against the people of the world, 99% of the Jews and Christians I know would loudly, and very publically separate themselves from these haters.
This happened in Israel when that Jewish man went into the mosque and killed all those people. Most of the Jews turned out in the streets and condemmed his actions.
Conversly, when Sadaam was bombing Israel during Desert Storm, the Arabs were dancing in the street and Hanan Ashwari was singing his praises on national television.
    Let us be clear.

  3. tb, if I paint with a broad stroke, it is only because the majority of Muslims have not given me pause in doing so. I’ve seen naught but rejoicing over Jewish deaths, and nothing but blame placed on the Jews for acts of terrorism committed by fellow Muslims. It is a faith that has primarily blinded its followers to their own guilt, and their world-wide projection of their own faults and atrocities onto the Jews should be of paramount shame to them. Yet they express only gladness and smug righteousness at their own beliefs.
Yes, I’m afraid these reactions DO represent the majority of Muslims around the world. MEMRI may not be an unbiased news source, but that does not change this very basic portrayal of the average Muslim on the street in Saudi Arabia.

  4. tb,
What MEMRI does is translate the articles and reports they find in the media from countries in the middle ease, the majority of them being Islamic. If you think they are presenting a distorted image of what is published in those countries, I’d be more than happy to see some counter-examples.
But we have to be willing to consider the thought that MEMRI is providing an accurate portrait.

  5. Funny how someone from a religion that propogates hatred based on broadly enforced negative generalities gets so upset when someone else frames his religion within a negative generality.

  6. Gee, Strat, which religion would you be referring to? The religion whose founder said “Love your enemies, turn the other cheek, bless those who curse you?” Nice try but no cigar. Feel free to play again, though.
Funny how someone can toss out an intellectually vapid statement like that and be surprised when the hearers don’t fall at his feet in awe of his wit.

  7. um, Roy?…i think maybe Strat was referring to Islam, not Christianity…

  9. I regret if I offend you, but of course I was referring to Islam. Christianity doesn’t sponsor schools that preach genocide as a justifiable solution to children. Is anyone really surprised that Israel is building a big wall? I know it is a negative generalization, but what are we supposed to think when we witness “moderate, peaceful” Muslims all over the world, including the United States, dancing in celebration as the towers fell. Only now, three years later, are we hearing about a slim few American Islamic moderates speaking out against terrorism because some understandably suspicious person gave them the evil eye at the airport boarding gate. Where were they when the actions of the fanatic few besmirched their whole religion before the entire world? Complaining to the ACLU about perceptions of prejudice as a result of terrorism instead of fighting prejudice by denouncing terrorism, thats where.
