Summer Olympics 2004

Olympic Iraqi Soccer

Iraq stunned Portugal in its first Olympic competition since the war began. And they did it without the threat of having their kneecaps shattered by one of the Hussein sons if they lost.
Go Iraq!

  1. Caught part of the game yesterday- attending international soccer games in and of itself greatly increases one’s chances for getting kneecaps shattered.

  4. Where can I find an Iraqi National Soccer Team Jersery?

  5. Iraq barely has money to buy jerseys for its own people, so I’m not sure you’d be able to find one.
You can donate money to Iraq Soccer Aid, though.

  6. Good for them. They need to be in the news for something other than war. I hope they medal.

  7. I was rooting for them until they disrespected our President. At least now they don’t have to worry about their feet being broken for not winning gold.
It is remarkable how well they have done.
