Abortion

FGM

This caught my eye: Female genital mutilation is becoming more and more unpopular with young African women, and the practice is beginning the slow process of reform.
Now that this backward and hideous practice is being seen for what it is (you know, uh, mutilation), I hope that something similar will happen with abortion. Though I doubt it will. Considering the NY Times apparently doesn’t consider FGM to be “mutilation”, I feel rather despondent about abortion.

  1. Question of the day: By refusing to call female genital mutilation what it is, has the New York Times, which supporters call a newspaper, irretrievably sunk into a morass of foolishness, or is there still hope that it can regain its credibility?

  2. The Times lost its credibility a while ago. I’m not sure that much of anything could bring it back to pre-stench levels.
